Objectives
The CBHCM credential is for people with at least a bachelor's degree who provide direct behavioral health case management services to adults or children with serious mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and/or those whose involvement in the child welfare system requires behavioral health case management services.
The CBHCM designates competency in the domains of Engagement and Assessment; Service Planning and Delivery; Coordination, Linkage and Monitoring; Documentation; and Professional Responsibility.
The CBHCM credential is recognized for billable services by Florida's State Medicaid Plan and meets the certification requirement in s. 394.4573, Florida Statutes
This AI Assisted training track is based on the certification training requirements of the Florida Certification Board.
Total clock hours of training divided as follows:
30 hours of content specific training, allocated as follows
1. Clinical Competence: 8 hours
2. Maintaining Client and Personal Safety: 4 hours
3. Documentation and Patient Confidentiality: 4 hours
4. Ethical and Professional Responsibilities: 4 hours
5. Electives: 10 hours in any BHT domain
The CAP now offers two different levels depending on what your bachelor's degree is in. Tier 1 requires the degree is in a counseling related field and Tier 2 applicants can have a bachelors in most any health and human services field. See below for the link to determine if you are Tier 1 or Tier 2.
Dr. Snipes has chosen particular courses that will be helpful for you as an addiction counselor, and meet the Tier 1 standards.

Mental health and addiction intervention is a growing field, but it is essential to have the skills and tools to effectively conduct an intervention without causing harm to the identified patient or the family. Interventionists do not provide assessment or counseling, they work with the family to try to help motivate an individual to seek out counseling. It is highly recommended that you mentor under a certified interventionist in addition to taking the academic training.
